Airbrush illustration showing a hydroelectric turbine as a science fiction space ship.

HCI Illustrations

This illustration appeared on the cover of the November 1998 issue of Hydro Review magazine. The image is of an inconceivably huge mother ship in the form of a Francis hydroelectric turbine, seen here orbiting the earth. I suppose we were trying to convey a sense of technological advancement. As with the previous cover, the artwork was done using watercolor and airbrush. My art director Sarah Bent liked referring to this style as “metallic splendor”.
